When your air conditioning in Hernando, MS has started to make some alarming sounds, you shouldn’t just brush it off. Instead, take note of what you are hearing and call in the pros. Your system needs expert repairs before you end up needing an early replacement.
When You Hear These Sounds, Let Us Know!
Your air conditioner has a lot of different parts that all work together to create cool air for your home. As you can imagine, when something goes wrong with one or two parts, it won’t all sound the exact same. There are multiple noises that you should be able to recognize so you know when to contact us for repairs. These include the following:
- Screeching: Sounds unpleasant and it is hard to ignore. That’s good–hopefully, that will encourage you to get it fixed ASAP before the damage gets worse. Screeching is caused when metal scrapes against metal and in an AC that usually means you have a fan blade that is loose or a motor belt that is in need of lubrication.
- Bubbling and hissing: We group these together because they are going to have a similar root cause–a refrigerant leak. A leak in the indoor unit where the refrigerant is in a gaseous state creates the hiss; a leak in the part of the line where the refrigerant is in liquid form creates bubbling. You need refrigerant in your system for it to do its job. If you hear either of these noises, prompt repairs are a must.
- Rattling: Hear something shaking around within your system? That will only get worse so make sure to have it checked out soon. Rattling is usually caused by loose parts shaking around in their housing such as a loose screw or bolt.
- Clanging: Did you have a rattling noise that you weren’t able to get fixed up? If so, you likely are noticing a clanging sound now. Clanging is what occurs when that loose part comes fully free and is now bouncing around inside of your AC unit. As you can imagine, there will be some seriously negative consequences if this is allowed to continue. Turn your AC off and contact us for help.
If something sounds off within your air conditioner, whether it is a central AC unit, a heat pump, or a ductless system, you should always have it assessed by a professional.
